Jesus said 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'
Matthew 19:14
Every child deserves the best possible start in life, and at St Mary’s we ensure the child’s first experiences of school life to be positive and exciting. We provide a caring, secure and safe environment where every child is valued and respected as an individual, striving to reach their own full potential. At St Mary’s we want our children to adopt a love of learning, be motivated to learn and experience a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all individuals.
The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum consists of 7 areas which are broken down in to prime and specific areas.
The prime areas consist of:
Personal Social and Emotional Development (PSE)
Communication and Language
Physical Development
The specific areas consist of

Expressive Arts
The Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are the end of year expectations for each of the 7 areas.
